Every colour except blue, with red being the most common. Some green garnet is referred to as Tsavorite. The most popular garnets are green, followed by red garnet.
|Hardness:||7 - 7.5 out of 10 on Mohs scale. It is worth noting that in addition to its hardness, garnet often has very few inclusions, and is therefore excellent in jewellery.|
|Notable garnet:||The largest garnet ever discovered was found in central Australia in 1996. In its rough form, it weighed thousands of tons and measured nearly 30 metres wide.|
|Mythology||Garnet is one of the birthstones for January, for Aquarius, and has long been believed to be a protective talisman.|
